AT THE DANCE

Mercury stood with a mental
pen in hand
dreaming of intergalactic connection.

Venus swirled towards
Earth, elusively just beyond
reach, but visible.

Mars, crouched for a fight
ever ready
for the sport of it.

Asteroids were dashing about
daring each other
to jump into the pool.

Snacking in the distance
Jupiter loomed
rotund.

Saturn glanced over dissaprovingly,
not inclined to indulge
in any delight.

Uranus was watching Venus,
got aroused,
began vibrating.

Neptune danced in the parking lot,
inebriated, oblivious,
her sequined gown a butterfly.

And Pluto tripped
the switch
and sent them all into orbit.
